Illini Shore
Illini Shore is a mobile application designed to assist new college students in an innovative way with the use of mentor matching.
With the use of this app, Illini Shore is able to be the middleman for connecting experienced students to
non-experienced students with the use of data analytic matching.
The experienced students will take on the role as mentors to the new incoming students and guide/advise them through whatever they need. This app also features a Shore events page, which lists a bunch of events on campus.
These events range from advising meetings, study sessions, meditation sessions, yoga sessions, parties, open mic concerts, etc.
Overall, the Illini Shore app is meant to be an engine and safe haven for students (particularly newer students) who haven’t found a group to call their own yet. As incoming freshmen, my friends and I felt the stress of not knowing what helpful resources and fun events were available to us. This application will further allow students to explore different things that the U of I has to offer.
The main reason I created this app was to build more community on campus. I also wanted to eliminate the stressful journey of struggling to find specifically what one needs/wants while on campus.

REASON BEHIND NAME & LOGO
• To showcase teamwork
• To showcase different backgrounds (ethnic, racial, gender) coming together
• The name Illini is derived from my school’s name in combination with Shore (which is a word that evokes beach-like and fun-like behavior amongst friends)
• Shore is also a place where many gather to have fun
(this can be considered a safe haven)
